Conservatory Rebuild from Custom Choice Home Improvements [Case Study]

This was a major rebuild of an existing (much smaller) conservatory to one twice the size with a professional Guardian insulated roof and flush casement windows and door for that cleaner finish and stylish look.

Conservatory - guardian roof

The original conservatory was not only smaller but had considerable heat loss in the winter and heat build-up in the summer. Not ideal when you’re looking to add extra living space.

The image below was taken during the rebuild and shows the newly installed bi-folding doors that extends the original accommodation by opening up the conservatory to the rest of the living space.

The next image is the side view with direct access to the garden using french style double doors, perfect in the summer months. At this point, the rebuild is nearly finished with just the external lighting and flooring to be completed.

Below is another view of the rebuilt conservatory area showing the new back door with direct access to the garden. This is more of an extension rather than a conservatory, but the extensive windows and floor to ceiling glass doors add light and great views of the garden, giving the same impression of a conservatory but without the problems of expensive heating bills or overheating in the summer.

Before any work like this can go ahead, a survey is necessary to ensure proper foundations can be laid and building regulations adhered to. Here at Custom Choice, we pride ourselves not only on the quality of all materials and workmanship but on crucial aspects of any building work including the foundations.

Once that has been established, we then go ahead and prepare the ground ready for the foundations and add all parts of the build to the project timeline so the customer is never left in the dark about the estimated completion time. It is very rare for these estimates to be out, and in any case, where any snags are found, we always keep the customer informed.

This particular build took 2 months from initial enquiry to final inspection, which is about average, but obviously depends very much on when the customer is ready to have the work carried out. The foundations and all building work were completed in 6 weeks.

The build included a thick concrete foundation, brick work, screed finish, Guardian warm roof, Velux windows, electrics (spot lights and sockets), plaster finish to walls and ceiling, Residence flush windows, Residence flush French doors, and aluminium bi-folding doors.

If you’re thinking of having a conservatory or extension built or refurbished, give Custom Choice a call on 01733 300686 and we’ll be happy to quote and give you an estimate of how long it will take.
